If clear glowing skin is what you have it mind it’s time to pay attention to your digestive system. If you have problems such as acne, rosacea, eczema, hyper-pigmentation, or even excessively dry skin, it is likely you’re missing out on essential nutrients because of food you’re eating that might be irritating your gut.

All too often we’re using topical treatments, creams, and lotions that are not delivering the results that we want. Most of the time that is because you need to work on your skin from the inside out. Many skin issues can be relieved by working on your digestive system.

The skin on your body is the same type of skin that you have in your digestive system. Your outer skin has more layers where things can get trapped and cause problems. The skin is also your detox organ. It’s where we push things across the skin to detoxify our bodies. The best way to work with skin is to work on nutrition, getting the digestive system calmed, and using topical treatments at the same time.

THE SKIN RESET PLAN

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.10.2″ /][et_pb_text admin_label=”Heading #2″ _builder_version=”3.10.2″ /][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

To get the best skin ever, follow these steps in my skin reset plan:

-“De-inflame” the digestive system lining. Your digestive system lining is is often irritated from the foods that you eat. This includes many different types of foods that we think are healthy but we just can’t digest. We end up with a bloated belly that’s irritated. A lot of us have belly pooches, and it’s not necessarily fat. It could be that inflammation is causing the belly to pudge. If you’ve been working out like crazy and the gut just won’t go down, it is possible that there’s inflammation or something called leaky gut.

-Supply your digestive system with phenols. These are antioxidants that help to clean up inflammation. They boost your levels of glutathione.

-Boost your digestion. Most of us are not chewing our food enough, not producing enough stomach acid, or our pancreas isn’t producing enough digestive enzymes for us to be able to break down food. Many of us don’t have sufficient amounts of probiotics to help us to break down the foods that we eat.

-Eat your greens! Fill up on veggies and greens to change the pH of your gut.

-Drink water and electrolytes. This helps your cells to work properly and to detoxify properly.

-Get the inflammation out of the digestive system and plug the leaks in your gut.

EAT FOR CLEAR SKIN

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

The skin reset plan is simple: No beans, lentils, grains, dairy, coffee, chocolate, nightshades, nuts, or soy. Avoid refined sugars, processed foods, baked goods, and hydrogenated oils.

Anything that is hydrogenated is going to inflame you because your body does not know how to break it down. This includes margarines, cookies, crackers, and cereals. If it is not close to nature, it should not be in your body! Soda and alcohol are also very irritating to our bodies.

Adhere to this diet for the first 30 days to remove every inflammatory food that irritates your gut and “de-inflame” your digestive lining.

After a month, you can go back to having some of the grains, beans, and nuts, but these should be sprouted or pressure-cooked. Nuts, beans, and grains have a high amount of lectins in them.

Lectins are a protective protein for plants that irritates our guts. Once that happens, the digestive lining separates and food molecules get into the bloodstream. This causes an immune system reaction, which can cause belly bloat and achy joints, along with skin problems.

When it comes to eating your greens, you want to get in three handfuls every day. This could be arugula, chard, spinach, kale, or any dark leafy green that you like.

It is best to sauté greens in a little bit of olive oil in order to pull the fat-soluble vitamins across the gut lining and into the bloodstream. Eating these greens will also change the pH in your body, helping to lower inflammation in the gut. If you have trouble eating enough greens in a day, I highly recommend drinking a greens powder to supplement your diet.

BOOST YOUR DIGESTION

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

The probiotics in your gut really like antioxidants. It’s fuel for them, in addition to being fuel for our body’s detox abilities.

Phenols are shown to reduce cholesterol and smooth things out in our bodies by cleaning up inflammation. Mulberry leaf, Mulberry fruit, green tea extract, apple pectin, olive leaf, grape seed extract, and resveratrol are all good sources of phenols. You want these in your body to help get the inflammation down. Probiotics help your body break down foods and aid in the absorption of critical nutrients.

DRINK WATER

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

Another thing to think about when looking for detoxification of your skin is to look at your hydration. Water works to detoxify the kidneys. It is important to hydrate well and get in 80 to 100 ounces of water a day to help with this.

Coconut water is a great way to hydrate your body and provide you with electrolytes. It is crucial to drink plain coconut water and not the types with added sugar or sweetener. This helps balance your pH and cellular function.

PLUG THE LEAKS

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

The next step is plugging up the leaks in your gut. The best way to do this is to supplement collagen protein. If you have wrinkles on your face, you have low levels of collagen. These wrinkles also happen in your gut. Leaky gut is caused by holes or wrinkles that occur from losing collagen in your gut cells. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides is a great product to help with this.

Another source for collagen is drinking bone broths. The main benefit of bone broth is that it helps to link your digestive system lining cells together. Once this happens you start to have clear skin, less pain, and you feel better.

Another big thing is to make sure you are pooping on a daily basis. If you are at all constipated, this is a problem. Likely the issue is that you don’t have enough digestive enzymes, enough stomach acid or you are under producing bile from the gallbladder.

If you are suffering from constipation, gas, or bloating, I recommend taking a digestive enzyme with hydrochloric acid to be able to help you to break down these foods. This will help you to digest food better so that you can get your gut moving. If you have food that is just sitting in your gut, it is going to irritate your gut lining.

IN CONCLUSION

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.11″]

These are the main components that one needs to be thinking about to have clear skin. I have outlined my protocol on my resource page. My patients have done well with this protocol, and I suspect that you are also going to do well and get the best skin ever for yourself.
