This question runs through my head often.

My answer: No.

I have had women in my practice in their mid-80s with hormone levels higher than women in their 40s.

The difference, in my opinion? A different perception of life’s stress, less stress, and adrenal gland health.

I believe adrenal health is the key determining factor between women who thrive in midlife and beyond and those who struggle.

The adrenal glands are what make your hormones after your ovaries stop making them.

If you go into the perimenopause-to-menopause transition with taxed, depleted, or frazzled adrenal glands, you’re more likely to have more symptoms.

Unfortunately, for many women, their ability to balance hormones effectively is impeded by their gut microbiome, environment, and genetic mutations in the hormone detox pathways.

This makes it really hard to tolerate even a micro-dose of hormone replacement therapy.

The solution is looking at how to help the communication between the brain and the adrenals.

For those already in menopause, it’s all about fortifying the gut, brain, nervous system, and adrenal response, aka the HPA axis.

And for those in perimenopause, it’s doubling down on the same with even more emphasis on the thyroid gland and ovaries.

The longer you can keep your ovaries running while you fortify your adrenal glands, the better.

Bioregulator peptides like Bio-Adrenal and Bio-Femme by Biolongevity Labs have been my recent go-tos in these situations.

I’ve had patients who swear these products alone are far better than the effects they’ve had with HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

That’s huge!

I believe herbal medicine still has its place to help support hormones, yet I see faster and stronger results when herbs are paired with bioregulator peptides.

So if you’re feeling like HRT isn’t for you, or you have a personal or strong family history of female cancers, know I see you!

I’m specializing in this realm because my mom’s life was cut short by breast cancer. I don’t take all of the hype around hormone replacement for everyone lightly.

However, I do want you to know there are ways to counter the hormone decline that comes with aging.

You don’t have to trade your quality of life for the choice to avoid hormone replacement therapy.

If you’re not feeling the hormones, or you want to micro-dose them and add in a boost, then looking into bioregulator peptides is worth it.

I’ll be talking about these options in more detail in a workshop on August 13 at 5:30 PM PST / 7:30 PM CST — Alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy in Perimenopause & Beyond. Here’s the link to register:
