If so, you’re in luck!
Naked Nutrition has created a delicious new whey protein isolate that’s lemonade flavored.
At first I thought, is it going to taste like a milky lemon flavor?
…but from the first dip of my fingers into the powder to find the scoop…
… and the lick to taste it, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor.
Not too sweet and just the right amount of lemon.
At about the same time my husband walked into the kitchen and said, why don’t we make lemon pancakes.
So my first trial of the lemonade flavored whey was sipping it along side of eating it in lemon pancakes.
Recipe below, I can’t leave you hanging on that one!
Now I’m no stranger to adding protein powder to muffins, cakes, cookies and more so having this protein blend well into a pancake and taste great the ideas started flowing.
Next we made an almond flour lemonade protein torte and then some lemon cookies followed a few days later.
While I was having fun in the kitchen with the lemonade whey I was also sipping on it in various ways.
As is typical with protein powders mixing them with water can be tricky to get an even blend.
The blender bottle that comes with the protein powder helps a lot to keep the powder from building up on the bottom of the bottle and clumping.
I don’t believe that there’s a perfect blend when it comes to protein powder, unless of course you use quarter to half the recommended dose and blend slowly.
Which you could do, if you have the time!
If you’re like me you want to dump in the powder and go.
In this case the Naked Whey Lemonade performs similar to other protein powders in that it does get clumpy and foam up but you can keep blending as you drink to mitigate this.
So what do I love about the Naked Whey Lemonade Flavored Protein Powder?
- the taste overall is refreshing
- ability to mix into baked goods
- can be used with plain water and tastes good
- it is appealing to drink on a hot summer day
- not overwhelmingly sweet
What I didn’t love about the Naked Whey Lemonade Flavored Protein Powder?
- when sipping on it with water there’s a slight dairy like after taste
- you’ll want to add in a little powder at a time and blend to keep it from clumping
As you can see the pros outweigh the cons for me so I give this protein powder a thumbs up if you’re sick of the traditional whey protein and want to think outside of the box to use it as well!
Don’t worry I didn’t forget the lemon pancake recipe…
- 3 eggs – whisked
- 1 1/2 cup of milk (I used unsweetened almond)
- 1 scoop Naked Whey Lemonade
- 1/2 cup flour (I used Jovial Foods Einkorn Wheat All Purpose)
- 1/2 tsp salt (I used Redmond’s)
This is a modification of my family’s favorite Swedish pancake recipe.
Heads up, the pancakes will be thin, crepe-like in nature.
Whisk up the eggs then whisk in the milk. Slowly add the protein powder and the flour (the traditional recipe calls for 3/4 cup of flour) so that you don’t end up with a bunch of clumps. Sprinkle the salt on top, whisk in. Add some butter or ghee to a griddle that’s on medium heat and you’re ready to make pancakes.
Enjoy with a spoonful of fresh berries on top or some maple syrup!
Sound yummy?
