Dr. Greg Eckel has identified five types of Parkinson’s, and they all have to do with circulation in the body!

My 90-year-old dad says the secret to life is to “stay active,” which I translate into: keep your blood and energy moving.

The centenarians in the Blue Zones all have hobbies and social activities that keep them moving well.

Optimizing circulation to all your organs and making sure nutrients and oxygen, aka “energy” or “qi,” are flowing well is what ancient medicine sees as the secret to living well for longer.

This week on the podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Greg Eckel, a fellow ND and acupuncturist who specializes in neurodegenerative conditions.

Because Parkinson’s is on the rise and is incredibly common among farmers here in Wisconsin due to the pesticide and silo gas toxicity many of them have experienced, I’ve explored the topic quite a bit.

Dr. Eckel, being an acupuncturist, has the best explanations with actionable steps I’ve seen yet, and I have applied them to dementia as well as supporting an aging brain, and I’ve seen success.

What’s interesting is that the five types of Parkinson’s he’s identified all come with an imbalance that any one of us could develop.

The difference between developing Parkinson’s, dementia, or any other neurodegenerative condition depends on genetics, nutrition, detox abilities, and even the vibration of each and every one of your cells.

Here are his five types. Do any of them resonate with you right now? If so, don’t panic. It’s time to support your body and re-establish balance.

Type 1: Overstimulation
A nervous, highly reactive state where the nervous system is chronically overstimulated.

Type 2: Stuck
You feel stuck physically and emotionally.

Type 3: Depleted
Low energy and running on empty, with poor stamina and difficulty regenerating after exercise.

Type 4: Obstructive
This goes with brain fog, a sluggish digestive system, puffiness, and swelling.

Type 5: Frail and Depleted
Dryness of the skin, heat in the body, insomnia, and decreased muscle tone.

These are common types of imbalance in the body, and when left alone for too long, they have the potential to worsen.

I don’t want you to see these and panic. It’s just a gentle nudge to take care of yourself. (Hint: There are Qi Gong practices, release techniques, and herbs that can help here.)

My podcast with Dr. Eckel is a great one and is full of insights, even if you don’t have a neurodegenerative condition.

Here’s to being proactive,
Dr. J
