If you’ve been saying, “I just don’t feel like myself anymore,” today’sepisode of the Health Fix Podcast is for you.
As we move into 2026, it’s becoming clear that inflammation isn’t just a body issue it’s a brain issue first.
In this episode, I break down why so many people are exhausted, foggy, inflamed, and aging faster than they should even when their labs look “normal.”
Here’s the truth most people haven’t been told:
Fatigue often starts as brain fatigue.
And brain fatigue is driven by inflammation.
Your brain uses 20% of your daily calories, and when inflammation is present, it shifts into protection mode not performance mode.
That’s when you notice:
• Brain fog after meals
• Energy crashes
• Mood and cognition fluctuations
• Poor recovery from exercise
• Morning stiffness lasting longer than 30 minutes
• Elevated resting heart rate or low HRV
• Blood sugar instability on CGMs
This isn’t “just aging.”
This is chronic inflammation changing how your brain processes information altering how you interact in your world…and this includes your memory, focus, motivation, and energy output.
The more inflamed your brain becomes the harder it is for you to make healthy choices.
Which turns into skipping meals, not taking the time to meal prep, impulse snacking, stress and overeating.
An inflamed brain can have you thinking worst case scenarios about things, worrying unnecessarily, picking fights and feeling agitated or impatient often.
As your thoughts turn darker your mood dips and you interact with your world differently.
You find yourself saying “I don’t feel good” or you utter the words “ I feel old”.
When inflammation stays elevated chronically:
- Cells don’t repair efficiently
- Mitochondria produce less energy
- Hormone signaling gets disrupted
- Blood sugar becomes unstable
- Fat storage increases
- The brain becomes less efficient
That’s why people tell me:
“I feel puffy, foggy, inflamed, and exhausted.”
But most of these things don’t show up on regular labs so your doctor may say your labs are normal and this is “normal” aging.
Inflamm-aging aka chronic inflammation causing you to age faster than your body naturally could is not normal.
Inflammation is NOT the enemy either.
It’s a signal.
Suppressing it without addressing the cause is like turning off a smoke alarm while the fire keeps burning.
This is why taking things like prednisone, Tylenol, Advil, turmeric, fish oils, natural anti-histamines, bromelain and quercetin doesn’t always stop the inflammatory process.
They are not getting at the source of the issue.
Acute inflammation heals.
Chronic inflammation drains energy, accelerates aging, and blocks results, like getting benefit from hormone replacement therapy.
The goal isn’t to “eliminate inflammation” it’s to remove the triggers so your body and brain can regulate again.
In my final episode of The Health Fix Podcast for 2025 I dive into:
- How inflammation alters brain processing, focus, and memory
- Why stress and unresolved trauma amplify inflammation
- How hormonal shifts increase cravings and inflammation
- Why circulation and oxygen delivery matter more than you think
- How peptides may open new doors for reducing inflammation
- Why inflammation leaves fingerprints before labs ever change, and why pattern recognition (HRV, resting heart rate, CGMs, symptoms) often tells the story first.
Inflammation is your body trying to protect you.
But when it becomes chronic, it quietly rewires how you feel, think, and age.
Is 2026 the year you stop chasing symptoms and start addressing inflammation?
If brain fog, fatigue, cravings, or “not feeling like yourself” has been your norm, this episode will help you understand why and where to start.
