I’ve been questioning everything lately.
Everything I learned. Everything I’ve seen in research. Everything I’ve recommended for years when it comes to bloating, SIBO, and chronic gut issues.
The old playbook — cycling bug-kill protocols, gut lining repair, beneficial bacteria isn’t working the way it used to. And when that happens consistently enough, it’s time to stop doubling down and start asking different questions.
So here’s the one I keep coming back to: what if the gut isn’t just a gut problem?
Think about this. Fear, worry, anxiety, grief, frustration; these aren’t just feelings. In East Asian medicine, each one directly depletes a specific organ system:
- Worry drains digestive energy — literally impairing your ability to break down food
- Fear tanks kidney energy — the fastest drain there is
- Anxiety destabilizes heart and nervous system function
- Grief weakens lung energy and lowers immunity
- Anger & frustration slow circulation, back up the gut, and impair detox
Sound familiar? We’re living through a time when most people are carrying all five of these at once. And if you’re worried about your gut health on top of everything else that’s a compounded effect, right in the digestive system.
This is why the standard protocols are struggling to keep up.
The body has become as overstimulated as the human brain.
Bug kills and handfuls of supplements aren’t cutting through the noise anymore.
Here’s what I’m doing instead…blending ancient East Asian medicine with peptide research:
Peptides I’ve used for gut repair for nearly a decade:
- BPC-157 — gut lining repair
- KPV — reduces inflammation and repairs the mucosal lining (where beneficial bacteria actually anchor)
- VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) — calms the stress-gut connection and supports immune function
- BioStomach — a peptide bioregulator for weak stomach symptoms: bloating on an empty stomach, feeling full fast, food sitting heavy for hours
The foundational protocol I’m building around:
- Circulation and lymphatic movement daily — Tai Chi, Qi Gong, rebounding, or self-massage (minimum 5 minutes)
- Microbiome feeding over killing — slow reintroduction of foods, paired with beneficial and ecosystem-enhancing bacteria
- Peptides and bioregulators to help a dysregulated body refocus on the gut
I go deep on all of this in this week’s solo podcast, including where I think gut health protocols are headed and why I’m officially going rogue on the trends.

And if you’re tired of protocols that don’t stick, I think you’ll find this one worth your time.

P.S. — Because toxins genuinely impact gut health, I’ve switched everything in my house to MotherFerment cleaning solution — laundry, dusting, all of it. Non-toxic for you, your pets, and the planet. It’s so good I have to share! Use code krause10 at checkout or grab it here.
