| The results from those who graciously filled out my health survey gave me some real insights. The biggest theme in last week’s survey results? A desire to have a plan and a strategy for health and aging well. Before you dive into strategy I want you to take a moment. Close your eyes and dream big. Look 20-30 years into the future from right now (yes even if you’re in your 60’s and 70’s or 80’s right now) what does life look like? What hobbies and adventures are you on and what are you doing? After you have a clear vision or at least an idea of what you want to do. Make a note, written is best but voice notes count too. That vision is what you’re going to use for your strategy and we’ll be working backwards. From that vision you can build out what fitness, health and thought process skills you’ll need and then it’s time to look at your general health. So… If you want to be hiking – leg strength and balance is crucial as is cardiovascular training.Sailing in your future? – upper body, core, leg and major balance is what you want to be working on.Traveling to exotic places? Total body functional strength (think lifting small roller bag suitcases into overhead compartments), cardiovascular and balance are just a few things to think about. Then it’s on to assessing the following in order…Hydration – how well you hydrate is crucial for every cell in your bodCardio-metabolic (heart, blood sugar balance) – this is fitness and dialing in blood sugar balance Next you’ll be looking for added ways to de-inflame by supporting your sleep-wake cycles (aka circadian rhythm) and your nervous systemInflammationSleep and and neurological health – these go together After that it’s time to dial in the following…5) Mitochondria6) Hormones7) Advanced cognition8) Dialed in fitness9) Peptides for amplifying health & controlling inflammation.10) Lab and Tech data metric data collection Sure you can ask ChatGPT to create a plan for you but it’s not going to be thinking about customization and what’s realistic for you. As we move into the spring I’ll be working on a plan and a system to help with strategy for the now, steps ahead and into the future.
