I used to think that the majority of folks could get away with twice a year detoxing.
In the last 5 years I’ve noticed many classic herbal protocols and supplements stop working, especially in the case of the gut microbiome and detoxification.
Things have changed so much in my go-to’s of “what works” that I’ll admit, I went toward hormone replacement therapy for many aging symptoms and GLPs for weight loss because they get quick wins for clients.
But as of late even the hormones and peptides aren’t working as well as they did before.
What does this tell me?
We’re overlooking the foundations of health.
Those things that require drinking adequate filtered clean water, actually washing, cleaning and eating your vegetables, holding yourself accountable for your own health and putting in the work to help restore it, yes these things are the foundations.
I’ll admit, I’ve helped clients find bandaids and quick wins and I end up feeling like I’m failing them.
I just had a client email me today saying he thinks the GLP he’s been microdosing has caused him to have lack of motivation because AI told him so.
Well maybe that’s the case however, what AI doesn’t know and can’t see is what I see from talking to clients for years and in this client’s case, over a decade.
This lack of motivation isn’t new, it’s foundational neurochemical gut induced deficiency in amino acids, in particular dopamine because protein doesn’t cook itself and neither do veggies, so what do you do?
I’ll take full responsibility for not giving tough love like I’m going to say right now… if you want to feel good and live a long happy healthy life you have to learn how to cook, get yourself to drink adequate filtered water, exercise in some form daily where you sweat a bit and learn to adapt to life’s stress.
Why so many things?
Because your environment is getting more and more toxic and you’re getting older.
The longer you’re here on this earth the more exposures.
Want to live better for longer?
Focus on implementing these things to make sure you’re able to detox daily.
- Eat 4-6 cups of organic home grown or farmers market grown non-sprayed or organic veggies – we don’t know what the curious “thunder storm” sounding water feature contains that sprays water on the veggies at the grocery store.
- Can’t imagine getting in those veggies or have a day where you’re not eating as many veggies?, then drink a green drink like Organic Energy Juice
- Get your meat, eggs and poultry from a farmer who grows naturally and regeneratively
- Consider ditching wheat flour unless its ancient strains grown organically like Anarchy Acres in Wisconsin
- Determine if you tolerate dairy or not and get it raw, organic from local farmers
- Avoid traditional grocery stores and join up with Azure Standard for community supported food or utilize a local co-op
- Get a counter top water filtration unit like AquaTru or Berkey, or a whole house filter from Chemical Free Body (enter the code “thehealthfix” for $ off).
- Invest in air filtration systems for your home and dehumidifiers if you have over 65% humidity in the home, which sets you up for mold overgrowth in the home
Feeling like your gut is out of wack, you have low motivation and your energy is zapped?
Then it’s time to do a deeper detox.
- Cleanse the stuck on junk on your gut lining like I do with Gut Detox or do the Standard Process 21 Day Purification Program this fall
- Bind toxins up with a product that has zeolite in it so they can be carried out of your body quickly
Tomorrow my interview with Jeff Hoyt from Zeolite Labs comes out and we talk all about daily detoxing with the help of zeolite.
Likely you’ve heard zeolite, it’s a molecule that binds to positive charged toxins and carries them out via the gut, it’s a binder like activated charcoal and bentonite clay.
I like zeolite more than the others due to it’s ability to grab things and carry them out on a deeper level.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s podcast where we go deeper into zeolite.
For now, I’m done with bandaids before foundational support, I want you all to live long healthy happy lives where higher level interventions are either not needed or have less chance of side effects.
Ones where you’re not asking Chatty G or Claude how to feel better and what’s giving you side effects in search of a reason for not feeling good.
If you don’t feel good, it’s time to go back to basics before you move to something more complex.
You can’t build a home without a foundation so why try to build the temple of your body without one!
Here’s to foundations over bandaids,
Dr. J
