Your perception of your life, health, or the situation you’re in is the lens through which you perceive everything.
For example, if you see life as hard, being or getting healthy will be hard too.
The same goes for weight loss, perimenopause, menopause, and aging.
Sadly, the more noise there is in the media about a condition, the more the perception is that it has to be a struggle.
What if it wasn’t hard to lose weight or do the things to be healthy?
And what if aging wasn’t perceived as a downward slide to death?
In the last year, I’ve thought a lot about perception and the collective views on health conditions.
It seems that almost every struggle in life is considered hard.
But what if you looked at them, even if just for a moment, through a different lens?
Now, I’m not saying a toxic positivity, rose-colored lens kind of situation.
I mean, what if losing weight, boosting metabolism, and getting healthy was a fun challenge, a learning experience, or a fascinating experiment?
When I started to look at losing weight by enjoying the process of learning about myself, I lost weight faster than I ever had and kept it off.
Much like many of you, I had the programming of watching my mom struggle with her weight and do diet after diet.
Listening to her complain to her friends about how hard it is to lose weight was a weekly experience.
No wonder so many of us already go into a weight loss process prepared to do battle with our bodies.
What do you think that does to your cortisol?
In the world of GLP (Glucagon-like Peptide) “magic” for weight loss, there are still women who do not lose a pound or even gain weight taking these types of peptides.
Why do you think that is?
Perception plays a huge role.
Thoughts of “Nothing ever works for me,” “Yeah, that’s great for everyone else,” or “I’m destined to be…” (insert thing) aren’t helping either.
The same goes for using HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and one’s perception of what it’s going to do for them.
You could call this the placebo effect, and you’d be correct.
The mind is a powerful force, and it can help or hinder you.
I’d like you to ponder what your mind is talking you into or out of right now.
Slow down and get present with the words you use to describe your health struggles to others.
How often are you using the words hard, difficult, it sucks, etc.?
Or have you come to the place of saying you’re “giving up” or “not having any ‘f’s'” (insert swear word) to give?
Even that lens and terminology will stand in the way of your success.
I can tell if someone will have success with a protocol by how they talk about their health.
Being open to changing your perspective is the first thing that has to change.
When I’ve said that in visits, most people will tell me, “I just need to get a win,” or “I need to see something change” before I can believe this will work.
What if a little shift in perspective needs to happen before you get results?
I’ve been accused by MD colleagues of mine of being too optimistic when it comes to certain health conditions like metabolism, hormones, and thyroid health.
There’s no such thing as being too optimistic when you believe in the innate power of the body to heal itself.
You’ve been programmed to look outside yourself, especially to medicines, surgery, and even supplements, to help you conquer your health issues.
You’ve been led astray.
Ancient medicines like Ayurveda and Chinese medicine have wisdom that you’ve been told isn’t as effective. Yet I see people change their posture, improve their energy, and recover from illness faster using these techniques.
I too went through a period of questioning my medicine, thinking it was all BS because the conventional medical system was telling me over and over again that my medicine was inferior.
When I changed my perspective, I realized naturopathic and natural medicine isn’t inferior. It’s aligned with how your body was designed.
I’ve been going back to the foundations of health in the last few years, and I’d like you to join me.
One of the biggest catalysts for a perspective change?
Your environment and the people you’re around the most.
This is why I’m so big on travel to help you transform your health. It changes perspective.
This evening I’m hosting a workshop on helping the body adjust to HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) better. Even if you’re not taking HRT, you’ll benefit because it’s about amplifying results with any protocol you’re on.
5:30 PM PST / 7:30 PM CST. Register to receive the replay.
Here’s to being open to a new perspective on health,
