My grandmother always put her white lucky rabbit’s foot and ruby bedazzled elephant in her pocket on Friday the 13th.

She said it was for “extra luck” and I didn’t question.

Being the top winning bingo goddess of the senior center I figured she knew what she was doing with the flashy party jewelry she carefully curated at garage sales.

It wasn’t till months after she passed and I was exploring her jewelry chest I learned the method to her madness.

Grandma had collected a massive amount of good luck jewelry specific to days, bingo and even the casino.

She had it sorted into specific sections with notes.

In the very bottom drawer she had her Tarot cards.

A few years before she passed she swore me to secrecy and taught me how she used them to guide her days.

My family was Uber Catholic in the midwest, Grandma couldn’t express her taboo love of cosmic astrology.

I wish I hadn’t been brainwashed by the rest of my family that she was a little nutty.

She was onto something.

While her friends and family were “fearing” Friday the 13th she was adding charms of “extra luck”, dressing vibrantly and out playing.

Prior to the current patriarchal times, Friday the 13th was considered the Day of the Goddess where everyone (not just women) celebrated their feminine energy to enhance their lives with creativity, wisdom and play.

Ancient medicine like Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine from India talk about masculine and feminine energy in everyone.

The left side of your body is yin and female energy while the right side of your body is yang and masculine energy.

I use this as a gauge to balance the body each time I do acupuncture.

This isn’t woo woo magic, a sin in religious beliefs or something that is dark, it’s part of you.

Sadly, the term “goddess” has many quick to think in terms of worshiping gods – it’s not that at all.

On the day of the goddess it’s a time to think about how can you maximize your feminine energy.

The energy everyone has inside of them to be creative, playful and even wise.

You can use this day to help support your overall health and wellbeing.

The two best ways to achieve double health benefits on Friday the 13th?

1) Get outside in soak up the ultimate feminine energy “mother nature”

2) Move, dance, play and express yourself fully – feel how good it feels to be you – this is so important for your nervous system!

Ditch fear and replace it with love.

Dress in a way that has you feeling strong, confident and playful.

Friday the 13th is about expressing the creative you – perhaps if you take the time to slow down and play a bit today you may receive a little wisdom to resolve a few struggles in life.

Wondering why you have a certain health condition?

Curious as to what’s up with your metabolism?

Pondering what to do about your hormones or other signs of aging?

Today is the day to get out, play and slow down the mind to see what answers come to you.

In 2025 you’ll only have one of these days in June – so make the most of this one!

Cheers to exploring your feminine energy,
