Ever catch yourself hearing what someone else does to be “healthy” and suddenly feel like you’re behind?

You’re not alone.

I’ve stressed myself out plenty thinking about all the “must-do” health trends I’m not doing. And honestly—the older I get, the more I find myself rebelling and opting for simplicity.

Maybe you’re in that phase too—where you just want someone to tell you what works and create a plan, instead of piecing it together yourself. I hear you.

That’s why I’m working on my Vitality Sleuth program—a way to blend labs + symptoms into annual health plans you can actually follow (stay tuned!).

But until then, I want you to think about this…

All the health trends, “magic” supplements, superfoods, and gadgets aren’t one-size-fits-all.

The real key? Asking yourself how well you’re doing with the basics:

  • Hydration
  • Sleep
  • Eating nutrient-dense, close-to-nature foods most of the time
  • Having fun

Because here’s the truth: no supplement, app, or tech tool can work long-term if your foundations are shaky.

So, how are you really doing with those four?

Could it be that letting go of rigidity and embracing more joy is the actual secret to a long, healthy life?

I know for me, sometimes I feel like I need “permission” to relax and play (cringe).

So as summer winds down, I want to prescribe a little fun.

Where might you be missing out?

  • A hike outside instead of another gym session
  • Patio dining with friends
  • Grabbing fresh produce from a farmer’s market and cooking something simple
  • Ordering in from your favorite spot and enjoying it on the porch

You don’t need a vacation, it can be just a few minutes here and there.

Micro-dose your fun. It all adds up.

Here’s to keeping it simple while going back to basics,
Dr. J
