The hardest personal development homework I ever had was to stare at myself naked in the mirror for 5 minutes.
Things you uncover in 5 minutes are deeply emotional.
From the double chin, to bags under the eyes, to wrinkles and jowls, to how parts look uneven, where cellulite is collecting, and the stories behind your scars.
I’ve long been fascinated by what clients tell me in terms of what they want to be “rid of” or “fix” on their body.
But what if these areas are just signs, signals that something is off in that area and needs TLC?
What if they are fascial restrictions that could be remedied with myofascial release therapies and peptides?
Since Wisconsin doesn’t allow me to prescribe, I’ve returned to my love for acupuncture and bodywork.
I’ve been experimenting with combinations of acupuncture, electro-stimulation (clipping TENS units to acupuncture needles), tuning forks, peptides, and lots of myofascial work in sessions, as I’m not overlapping clients anymore.
The results are impressive, especially if the client stays well hydrated, does some of the myofascial work, Tai Chi, or rebounding between our sessions, and gets some chiropractic adjustments.
Right now, the peptides GLOW and KLOW are super popular for skin rejuvenation, and rightly so, they do some amazing things.
GLOW – the peptides Copper GHK + BPC-157 and TB-500
KLOW – the same peptides above with the inflammation reducer KPV
My fave of the two is KLOW, especially for those with lymphedema or lipedema.
Two cringey side effects have to be addressed when using these peptides.
One is that they can produce a hive at the injection site for a few days, so you have to be aware of this.
Plus, I’m starting to test for copper processing because some folks do not metabolize copper well, and these shots can cause copper toxicity.
Granted, this tends to occur in someone who’s quite sensitive, but it is a thing.
I’ve started to experiment with guiding clients to inject daily near the areas they would like to enhance when it comes to their skin.
I’m also playing with it myself and plan to work on my face in the next few months. Stay tuned for before and afters, I’ve only worked on my chest wrinkles to date.
I’m pairing GLOW and KLOW with the weight loss peptides Tirzepatide or Retatrutide to help the body a bit more with inflammation and support the skin as weight comes off.
If the thought of staring at yourself in the mirror doesn’t sound like fun, it may be time to work on your tissues a bit.
The entire protocol at the moment looks like the following for 60 days, with the diet for 42 of them:
• Adequate hydration – 1/2 your body weight in ounces of filtered water, plus an additional 20 ounces with Redmond’s Real Salt (1/4 tsp) or Quinton Isotonic Water.
• GLOW or KLOW – 5–10 units a day (500–1000 mcg daily) + Tirzepatide (0.6–2.5 mg once weekly) or Retatrutide (0.25–0.5 mg, 1–3x per week).
• Myofascial work to problem areas (acupuncture and tuning forks as a bonus at least 2x per month).
• Tai Chi or rebounding 4 days a week, with weight lifting 2–3x per week.
• Metabolic Reset Diet – 42 days: lean meat, poultry, or fish (4 oz), vegetables (4 oz), and fruit (4 oz), 2 meals a day. No food between 7 p.m. and noon for the 42 days. No added fat beyond what is naturally in the lean meat. No supplements that contain fat and no fish oil. It may seem drastic, but it’s a great way to dump fat out of the liver and tissues.
Note: Do this diet before you start Tirzepatide or Retatrutide, not while you are on them.
I’m working on bringing more folks into my research on this protocol, so if you’re seeing me in Wisconsin or Washington, hit reply and let’s chat.
Here’s to seeing your body as a collection of signals, not flaws, and giving it the support it needs to thrive,
Dr. J
