You can create an identity that makes you sick.

Mentally or physically.

Take a big huge breath in and out…

none of this is your fault!

It’s a drive within you to fit in, be part of the tribe

…or gain acceptance that’s causing you to be or act in a way that’s not true to you.

As kiddos you learn from the cues your caregivers and friends give as to what’s “acceptable” by them and what isn’t.

You eventually mold yourself to reflect the 5 people you spend your time with.

The good news is – you can get back to your true self.

I’m in the process of un-doing 45 years of brain wiring that didn’t serve me.

Using the EFT tapping and hypnosis coaching of Theresa Lear Levine, I’ve made quite a bit of progress.

I’ll get to that in a minute but let me give you a little back ground.

As a pre-teen I learned to cope with stress by stuffing down my emotions with food.

And later as life became overwhelming I used stress eating to procrastinate.

All of which led to some serious digestive issues that no one could figure out.

Sure I had microbial imbalances but nothing seemed to fix it – permanently.

Turns out I wasn’t living my life on my terms.

I dove into the doctor identity hard and abandoned my other interests.

With the through process being – I’ll get back to those things someday.

Before I knew it a decade flew by…

…can you relate?

All along my subconscious mind and body were trying to get my attention.

Using my digestive system as the alarm that something was off!

But I ignored it.

So my body decided to take amplify it’s message in the form of back pain!

When I sought out a friend for massage, while working on me she asked – “why are you so angry?”

I thought that was odd as most people comment about how chill I am.

She noted how tight my fascial tissue was around my liver, rib cage and upper shoulders.

Dang! All the areas of stress and emotions…

…but my pain was in my low back!

Apparently my back wasn’t tight at all.

Go figure.

When I got home that day I asked my husband if he thought I was angry.

He laughed and said yes.

Great…knowing the body stores emotions I realized that EVEN with all my experience I wasn’t immune from this phenomenon either!

The following week I met Theresa Lear Levine for a podcast interview.

We talked about the name of her podcast and signature program, “Becoming More Me”.

Turns out she specializes in helping adults explore their hang ups, limiting beliefs and desires using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) aka tapping and hypnosis.

I had some experience with tapping but never made it a habit.

A week after our podcast interview, Theresa sent me a journal where she wrote in it on multiple pages.

One thing she wrote stood out to me, “let go of the emotions that hold you back!”

How did she know?

I reached out to her the next day to end this anger building in my body.

Over the course of 6 months she helped me to discover the root of the anger, resentment, fear and regret.

She provided me the tools –  tapping and self hypnosis recordings to help me create the life I wanted vs the lie I was living.

A year later I’m still using her resources to keep developing the new me.

Re-wiring your brain takes practice.

Having a coach like Theresa speeds up the process significantly.

I knew deep down I had to get back to traveling, skiing, biking and all my outdoor adventures.

When you break into full on tears watching a Warren Miller ski movie or a Caribbean sailing adventure it’s a sign.

While I know not everyone is a skier or sailor, I imagine you all have passions.

For me, I disconnected myself from my love of adventure and nature.

I am an adrenaline junkie as much as a health junkie.

I convinced myself that a doctor can’t be both a ski bum, mountain biker, world traveler and water sports lover.

Who wrote those rules?

A decade of not getting out and doing all my things made me bitter and angry.

Even thought the mind whispers – you’re old now – give up the idea of surfing in Portugal and heli-skiing the Kooteneys in Canada.

That’s a lie – age is just a number!

This gal has things she needs to do to fuel her soul.

What about you?

I believe anger, resentment, regret and fear all lodge in the body and create disease.

Just ask my digestive system!

I tell my story because … being honest with yourself and allowing you to be you unfiltered may be the key to warding off chronic illness.

At the very least it allows you to live life on your terms.

I credit Theresa with guiding me to see what I needed to do using tapping and hypnosis.

She’s helped hundreds of women and men see what is needed to become their true selves!
