And let’s not forget how 2024 was the year of colostrum. I’ve seen this before. During my ND training, one of my professors pulled out supplement ads from the 1950s to 1980s. Guess what? Most of the “newest breakthroughs” were just recycled versions of what was once hot decades ago. Take Mt. Capra goat colostrum—around since the ’70s. Now it’s overshadowed by glossier brands like SilverFern and Amara. But here’s the thing: colostrum still works. Especially for rebooting the gut-immune system—the root of many modern issues like IBS, constipation, diarrhea, and leaky gut. So why don’t people stick with it? Because colostrum takes time to work.
Meanwhile, symptom-targeted probiotics give quick relief in days. Everyone loves a quick fix. I get it—I do too. But healing is not instant. It’s sequential.
And if you only chase symptoms, you’ll wind up with a shelf full of supplements and no real progress. That doesn’t mean innovation is useless—liposomal and nano-delivery systems are major upgrades. But we’re forgetting to ask the deeper question:How did this all start? What was going on in your life when the symptoms began?A major stressor?A viral or bacterial infection?Mold exposure or a tick bite?Change in sleep, diet, or daily rhythm? Something flipped the switch. And until that’s addressed, no trendy TikTok supplement will fix the real issue. Let’s take a bladder infection:
You want relief from the burning and urgency fast—but those are symptoms.
You also need to remove the bacteria, hydrate well, and prevent it from sticking around. That’s why a well-rounded approach using D-mannose (to block adherence) plus herbs like Oregon Grape Root or Uva Ursi (to kill or inhibit bacteria) is so effective. This is how real medicine works. You manage symptoms and solve the problem at the root. Before jumping on a new supplement trend, ask yourself (and your practitioner):

✔️ Or is it just managing symptoms?
✔️ Are lifestyle habits supporting or sabotaging my healing? Go through your supplement shelf.
Play supplement detective.
Be your own best advocate. And remember: healing isn’t about collecting capsules.
