I’ve noticed closing in on the end of the year brings up a lot of emotions.

If you answered yes to feeling impatient, cynical and frustrated and you can’t remember the last time you felt joy? – you could be experiencing burnt out.

Sure those feelings mimic peri and menopause yet I believe burnt out can provoke symptoms of hormonal imbalances.

Which sounds more like you?

1) you’re looking forward to the holidays for the festivities or…

2) you’re done with this year and want to find a cave to hide out in till the new year…or forever

This year I’m looking forward to the new year.

No need for a cave to hide in as I’ve craved in past years.

Lots of new things on the horizon for me and that means you too – stay tuned!

Yet, I digress let’s talk about this burnt out feeling.

How did you end up feeling burnt out?

  1. pushing yourself and not taking breaks
  2. not doing something you enjoy
  3. living your life for other’s goals or dreams
  4. not scheduling your days to maximize your time

Any sound familiar?

I’ve done all of those things at the same time.

I ended up gaining weight, feeling depressed and angry.

Living life like a bear is chasing you… running from one thing to the next and never being on time for anything sucks the life out of you.

Same goes for doing things you don’t enjoy.

Relationships, friendships, commitments, careers, jobs, volunteer opportunities, workouts – you name it…if you don’t enjoy it – stop it!

There are only 2 people you need to please in this life – your 5 year old self and your current self.

The 5 year old self is the one driving the ship and if that version of you isn’t getting what he/she wants then you’ll burn out.

I thought burn out was part of the process to reach your goals…and then you take a vacation and it all goes away.

Silly me.

So…what’s burning out your fire (aka your Qi)?

How can you ditch it and move into the new year feeling rejuvenated?

In my latest podcast I sat down with Dr. Ben Reinking, an Iowa pediatric cardiologist who is helping medical professionals prevent burn out.

His message is simple and it applies to everyone – get back to what brings you joy.

Prioritize what lights you up and schedule it in no matter what.

If you’re looking forward to the holidays … what aspects of this time of year can you carry into your daily or weekly routines?

The solution doesn’t require blowing up your entire life.

Take bits and pieces of what you love to do and apply it to designing a life you enjoy.

Not sure what you enjoy anymore? – take time to explore your options.

Illness takes hold when your physics aka your energy is off.

The goal…keep energetic emotional imbalances from impacting your body’s chemistry.
