No one wants to admit they are nosey.
Yet, it’s possible you’ve spent extra time surveying a People magazine in the grocery line to see what celebrities you recognize are up to…
…or you’ve stalked a few social medial profiles of old friends.
It’s ok, you’re not alone, weird or even odd.
Humans are curious creatures…
… but for some reason there’s often this weird phenomenon preventing you from being nosey about yourself!
Modern society and the conventional medical system has caused humans to disconnect and compartmentalize health issues.
This is a HUGE problem…
…and it’s keeping you from your health goals.
And dare I say it’s the #1 cause of inflamm-aging.
What is this one crucial thing?
Forming a deep connection and understanding of yourself.
Knowing what has you feeling good and what has you feeling drained, irritated, agitated, not wanting to continue with the task.
The more you comprehend what serves you and what doesn’t in your daily habits, routines and behaviors the better you’ll be able to make adjustments to get your health back on track.
It’s not uncommon for clients to tell me that each time they go on vacation, get really busy or have a big stressor in life they have trouble returning or sticking to their healthy habits.
Why is this?
The work to counter these life events hasn’t been wired into the habits and routines to impact the behavior.
You are your own best source of stress and inflammation.
I hear the following often… “my life is super stressful, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
There’s plenty you can do to offset the stress of life…
…if you get to know what feels good and what doesn’t for you.
This is where taking notes on yourself and your feelings comes into play.
While it may be a mundane part of your health journey it’s key to understand who you are and what you need to be the best version of you.
And that version of you, is what you get to decide, not anyone else’s stories that they’ve placed in your head.
I’m sure you can pull up all the things your parents or family members have said to you over the years.
To form a deep connection and understanding of yourself when it comes to your health needs it’s vital to start with what sequences of events lead you to not taking good care of yourself.
Assess the following events that “throw you off”…
- busy schedules
- not taking breaks during the day
- forgetting to drink water during the day
- relationship stress
- energy vampires
- taking care of others
- you or others getting sick
- vacations
- season changes
- sports seasons
- injuries
- pain
- strong emotions
- poor night of sleep
- alcohol or medications
- certain foods or dining out
- situations that occur in life
Once you’ve assessed those events it’s time to determine what behavior ensues after these events?
- fatigue, sleepiness
- dizziness, weakness
- loss of meal prep routines
- eating out more
- grabbing junk food
- skipping meals
- not sleeping as much
- not relaxing
- not getting vacations
- emotional eating
- anxiety
- depression
- hot flashes
- mood swings
- night sweats
- insomnia
- rashes, fevers, sweating or not sweating
- feelings of overwhelm, frustration or anger
- looping thoughts
- strange mysterious symptoms
- etc??
Now that you’ve connected the life event to the behavior that the body is expressing it’s time to get out ahead of the events.

What could you do to ensure you maintain or reinforce your healthy routines no matter what life throws at you?
Is there a plan you could initiate to prevent the fall out that’s detrimental to your health?
When you slow down to connect and understand your body you’ll see your patterns of self sabotage.
Whether it’s not taking breaks to relax, eat or just be during the day, or if it’s not preparing food to have with you so you don’t opt for junk food.
It’s likely you’ll resonate with those examples yet, the real connection and understanding of yourself comes with some of the more subtle needs that will surface if you’re taking the time to observe your responses to life’s rhythms.
Tracking what happens when xy or z situation arises will help you connect on a deeper level.
Connecting with behavior with certain thought processes shows you what you need to support yourself each day.
These deeper nuggets of wisdom are quite valuable when it comes to your health.
And here’s the kicker, they may change in subtle manners over time.
This is why it’s fascinating and valuable to observe yourself, make notes and connections.
The more you know about you, the more you can set up your days to suit you.
This lowers stress on the body and the mess that occurs with hormones, metabolism and nerves with age.
In my opinion, humans are great at creating their own inflamm-aging responses that have a deep root in not living in alignment with their true selves.
The stress and inflammation response holds you back from boosting your energy, metabolism and balancing your hormones.
Put it in check and you’ll see things fall in place.
This is why it’s the first step in my process to help you become your own health guru.
I invite you to identify one area you can improve right now.
Track your interventions and progress.
When you feel you’ve mastered it then move to the next area to address.
The more knowledge you have about yourself the more you can make the interventions necessary to lower inflammation in your body!
