I owe my pal Ali Shapiro big time for the “ah ha” moments she’s helped me to uncover in the last 3 months.
Little did I know on a podcast interview with her that I’d discover the block that was keeping stuck in overeating cycles.
Our quick session has led to multiple discussions over the last 3 months that have helped me dive deeper and deeper into why I find myself eating things when I’m not even hungry…
…and why I couldn’t let go of pistachios, walnuts, macadamia nuts…you name it.
Yesterday I was prepping for a weekend of hiking and made my own trail mix.
Yes, nuts were totally involved – almonds and walnuts with dried apricots to be exact.
Normally I’d gorge myself while making the trail mix and there wouldn’t be much left for the hiking adventure.

I went into the prep thinking about all the things Ali says about “Why Am I Eating This Now?” and turns out – I didn’t need the nuts to soothe my nervous system last night.
So I made the mix – took a few bites just to be sure this was really happening and yep, didn’t need to go full in.
No alien hijacking me, there are extra nuts for two full days of hiking.
My hiking pals will be thanking Ali big time.
So…Ali’s “Why Am I Eating This Now?” program registration closes Monday 9-16-24 and I had to send this email out to let you know that what she teaches is gold!
I’ve struggled with my squirrel-like nut loving habits for decades and what happened last night blew my mind.
